Global Anarchy Begins to Swell
22 years ago, Robert D. Kaplan published his famous article — The Coming Anarchy — in The Atlantic. The article was followed 6 years later by a book of the same name, including the original magazine article as the first chapter in the book. Over the past two decades, Kaplan has revisited the theme several times, watching his predictions unfold. In the article excerpted below, he elaborates on some recent trends of anarchy:
The weakening and dissolution of small- and medium-size states in Africa and the Middle East will advance to quasi-anarchy in larger states on which the geographic organization of Eurasia hinges: Russia and China. For the external aggression of these new regional hegemons is, in part, motivated by internal weakness. They’re using nationalism to assuage the unraveling domestic economies upon which their societies’ stability rests. Then there is the European Union, which is enfeebled, if not crumbling. Rather than a unified and coherent superstate, Europe will increasingly be a less-than-coherent confection of states and regions, dissolving into the fluid geography of Eurasia, the Levant and North Africa. This is demonstrated by Russian revanchism and the demographic assault of Muslim refugees. __ Robert D. Kaplan
The World 6 Years Ago, in a Time of Relative Order:
The leaders of particular prison-states in their own way are gambling their regimes on “clever” gambits of war and quasi-warfare, out of desperation. The ongoing desperate acts of Russia and China — bringing the world to the edge of global anarchy and perhaps nuclear war — should have been saved as acts of last resort in case of all-out attack by external enemies. Instead, this aggressive pre-emptive flirtation with anarchy and global war is being undertaken to save individual tyrants and the slippery grips they have on highly centrifugal states held together by force and terror tactics.
A More Politically Correct and Contemporary Map:
The progressive economic breakdowns taking place in the third world and in the prison states of Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, and others belonging to the “World League of Evil ™ ” are not fully reflected on the “Fragile States Map” above.
Low IQ Nations Host World’s Population Boom
In the dark and warring lands of Africa and parts of Islam, birth rates are booming along with bombs. A massing overflow of low-IQ and violence-prone emigrants are being pushed toward Europe by growing anarchy at home. These untrainable and crime-prone masses will bring the fire of fanaticism and bloody impulse with them, wherever they travel and bring new generations into the world.
While Xi and Putin Promote Global Anarchy, Their Own Nations are Being Overtaken by Decay
At least 1 million babies are born with defects in China each year, an incidence rate of 60 out of every 1,000.
“The rate is three times that of developed countries,” Professor Li Zhu, director with the National Center for Maternity and Infant Health said…
Apart from late childbearing, birth defects occur for many other reasons, including insufficient consumption of certain trace elements primarily folic acid and iodine, exposure to health hazardous pollutants, and long term unhealthy lifestyles.
Statistics from the Ministry of Health show that birth defects affect one in 10 Chinese households, imposing a total annual financial burden of 1 billion yuan. ___ http://www.china.org.cn/english/health/224265.htm
Fellow league member Russia suffers from a similar toxic legacy:
. . . only 30 percent of Russian babies born are born healthy. …many unhealthy Russian babies are “discarded” —sent to government institutions where they often develop cognitive difficulties. Unhealthy children grow up to be unhealthy adults: half of the conscripted Russian army has to be put in limited service because of poor health. ___ http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2014/03/numbers-vladimir-putin-doesnt-want-you-to-see
The situation is even worse in nations that are used as toxic dumping grounds by the more powerful league members. At least Russia and China pay lip service to the idea of cleaning up the massive (and growing) toxic waste depositories scattered about their lands.
The Odds for Nuclear EMP or Nuclear Blast Attacks are Uncomfortably High
As Iran, Pakistan, and North Korea work to build their nuclear arsenals (with winks and nods from China and Russia), the world grows closer to a nuclear-instigated anarchy of large proportions.
Suspected for years of plotting to dismantle the U.S. electric grid, American officials have confirmed that Iranian military brass have endorsed a nuclear electromagnetic pulse explosion that would attack the country’s power system.
North Korea is experimenting with submarine-launched ballistic missiles, which could extend the nuclear reach of the famine-plagued tyranny to any ocean. A nuclear EMP attack from such a warhead would be potentially far more effective at bringing anarchy to a target nation than a land-targeted nuclear blast of a particular city or site.
Rogue nations such as North Korea (and possibly Iran) will soon match Russia and China and have the primary ingredients for an EMP attack: simple ballistic missiles such as Scuds that could be launched from a freighter near our shores; space-launch vehicles able to loft low-earth-orbit satellites; and simple low-yield nuclear weapons that can generate gamma rays and fireballs.
The much neglected 2004 and 2008 reports by the congressional EMP Commission—only now garnering increased public attention—warn that “terrorists or state actors that possess relatively unsophisticated missiles armed with nuclear weapons may well calculate that, instead of destroying a city or a military base, they may gain the greatest political-military utility from one or a few such weapons by using them—or threatening their use—in an EMP attack.”
What You Don’t Know About (or hear about) Can Kill You
National and commercial news organisations do not provide useful news, but rather “frame narratives” to the benefit of government regimes or particular coalitions of a power elite. It is to the benefit of the propagandists at large to keep you in the dark regarding any real threats to you or yours. It is to your benefit to pay closer attention — to remain always vigilant and sceptical.
Up to 90% casualties have been predicted from a continental scale EMP destruction of power grids. Since such an attack would likely take place in the middle of a larger, global-scale power-play, chances for trans-continental displays of large-scale aide and relief would be unlikely.
The ongoing global flirtation with anarchy by China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, and other members of the League, brings the world closer to a perfect storm of opportunity for a combined EMP / Cyber Warfare attack. As a last-ditch effort to save their regimes, no dictator allied to the League would hesitate to use whatever asymmetric weapons lie within his arsenal. In fact, a pre-emptive cyber attack could make a subsequent EMP attack much more lethal and with longer-lasting impacts.
Cyber Weapons are not simply the next stage in the evolution of making war less lethal. If they are not properly controlled, they may result in small disagreements spiraling out of control and leading to wider war, or to the orchestrated collapse of world’s fundamental economic and governmental systems. __ http://www.kas.de/wf/doc/kas_19761-544-2-30.pdf (PDF)
Doomers are Constitutionally Predisposed to See the World Crumble to Pieces
Doomers want to see the world collapse. This is the opposite of creative apocalyptologists, who work to devise more robustly resilient and anti-fragile communities and networks of communities.
Doomers are a plague on modern societies. Nihilists who make a living out of doom — or worse, nihilists who help other doomers make a living out of doom — they take resources away from efforts to build a more robust, resilient, expansive, and prosperous human future. Lobbing metaphorical bombs into the public commons, then sitting back and applauding wildly at every pro-anarchy action taken by the bloody-handed dictators of the world — they are a waste of any thinking person’s time.
If you know of any doomers in your immediate vicinity, please report them to [OTC:OYNK] for immediate and profitable disposal. The world will be a better place for it. 😉
Failed doomer predictions from 1970 Earth Day: They said civilisation would end sometime between 1985 and 2000 AD. They said the world would be starving by the hundreds of millions with the entire world in famine. They said all the crude oil would be gone by the year 2000. Do those predictions remind you of more contemporary predictions you may have heard? They should. They’re recyclable!
