When a Thoughtful Democrat Goes to a Trump Rally

She is an organizational psychologist who uses Zen and mindfulness in her work. She enjoys knitting as a form of relaxation. But when her small group of New England knitters and political compatriots erupted in outpourings of political hatred, she began to wonder whether something in her political movement had gone wrong.

And so she decided to go to the heart of the controversy to learn the truth first-hand. She decided to attend a Trump political rally in person.

So I headed over an hour and a half before the doors were scheduled to open (which was 4 hours before Trump was set to take the stage) and the line already stretched a mile away from the entrance to the arena. As I waited, I chatted with the folks around me. And contrary to all the fears expressed, they were so nice! I was not harassed or intimidated and was never in fear of my safety even for a moment. These were average everyday people. They were veterans, school teachers, and small business owners and they had come from all over the place for the thrill of attending this rally. They were upbeat and excited. In chatting, I even let it slip that I was a democrat and the reaction was “Good for you! Welcome!”

Once we got inside, the atmosphere was jubilant! It was more like attending a rock concert than a political rally. People were genuinely enjoying themselves. Some were even dancing to music being played over the loudspeakers! It was so different than any other political event I had ever attended. Even Obama in 2008 didn’t feel like this…

With Trump, there was a genuinely optimistic view of the future. With the Democrats, it was doom and gloom. With Trump, there was a genuine feeling of pride of being an American. With the Democrats, they emphasized that the country was a racist place from top to bottom… With Trump, every single person was unified around a singular goal. With the Democrats, the audience booed over candidates they didn’t like and got in literal shouting matches with each other.

Read the whole thing to understand why more thoughtful people are likely to try to free their minds from the waves of “social justice” hatred that flow out of leftist boomboxes at schools, from media, political agencies, human resources departments — even knitting circles!

People who believe in self-help methods such as mindfulness, Zen, or any sincere spiritual approach to becoming more enlightened will probably be repelled by the current uber-hateful aspects of leftist politics and ideology. This is why leftist factions try to discourage their followers from pursuing any form of self-help or honest approach to enlightenment. They are on a roll of hate-mongering, and cannot risk any slowing down for any reason.

Leftists hate optimism

Some of the biggest recent increases in consumer confidence have come from independent voters and less affluent households, according to Richard Curtin, director of the University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers. His team always asks people to explain why they feel confident, and lately they are hearing near-record levels of people saying their income and wealth are rising.

“We’ve only seen this many people mention income gains twice before: 1966 after the 1960s expansion and 2000 after the 1990s expansion,” Curtin said. __ Source

Leftism in Action in New York City

It seems like deja vu for older residents of New York City. 30 years ago, crime was epidemic in New York City. Then came Giuliani, and after many subsequent years of enjoying very low rates of crime, NYC residents are seeing crime rates sky-rocketing again under leftist mayor Bill de Blasio and his leftist approaches to governance. And crime is likely to keep going up as long as the policies of the modern left continue to be implemented.

… The three-decade-long crime wave that was the unalterable fact of daily life in New York City began in 1964, when I was 3 years old. I was mugged four times before I was 14. My sisters, nine and 10 years older than I, were robbed at gunpoint in the vestibule of an Upper West Side building where they shared an apartment; it could’ve been worse.

The problem went beyond suffering crime first-hand. Porn shops and theaters littered the streetscape, along with indigent denizens, from the mentally ill homeless to grifter squeegee men. The simple act of making one’s way to and from work or school back home and out again became a constant source of anxiety; menace reigned.

The crime wave’s reversal really began in 1994, when I was 33. Within a few years, New York regained its status as a civil society, and the positive changes only deepened in the next two decades, despite calamities like 9/11, the 2003 blackout and the 2008 financial meltdown.

The memory of the bad old days led many of us to warn in apocalyptic terms of the dangers of electing Bill de Blasio in 2013, with his ideological obsession with alleged police misconduct. But more than half the electorate that year had never lived in a frightening Gotham; our warnings fell on deaf ears. __ https://nypost.com/2020/02/12/crime-is-up-and-it-feels-like-the-city-is-headed-back-to-the-1970s/

And now the warnings are coming true.

At the same time as the growth of crime in NYC, it is becoming hell for small businesses. Small businesses employ most of the people, but the city of New York seems to hate them. And no one is more to blame for this atmosphere of hate than leftist mayor Bill de Blasio and his gang of thieves in city hall who seem to delight in torturing small business-people just for fun.

Dealing with city bureaucrats is near-impossible, adds Walters: “It’s very difficult to get straight answers.” The city is constantly changing its rules, and it requires new licenses and other documents periodically. Completing much of the paperwork, he said, is “harder than trying to get a mortgage.” Fixing a recent problem with his liquor license cost a whole day at the agency, and “God forbid you forget a document and have to make a return trip!”

As for the minimum wage, he notes that if you add up all the time he and his partner put in, they themselves probably don’t make $15 an hour — but now they must pay a 20-year-old student that much, though he lives with parents who pay most of his expenses.

That wage hike, by the way, has led the deli to slice workers’ hours — which the owners make up by putting in more time themselves.

What’s next?

Tom Grech, president of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, suggests lawmakers themselves be forced to spend time working at small businesses before taking office to get a sense of what owners face. __ https://nypost.com/2020/02/11/save-our-city-why-its-so-hard-to-run-a-small-business-in-nyc/

Now, NYC is not safe, and it is easy to find who is to blame. It is the hatemongers who control NYC today.

The Fall of Chicago, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles . . .

Wherever the hate-filled people of the left take over, decline is certain to follow. You can track their progress by the feces and empty syringes that litter the streets of their cities, by the bloom of homeless tent-towns and the rise of petty crime and the drop in public safety that follows.

Many of these cities have created public spaces that are uninhabitable by the public. Once beautiful places in Seattle and San Francisco that I remember from childhood, have become unsafe for children and adults alike. And there is nothing to be done for these places as long as voters continue to elect these leftist purveyors of utter decline.

These are sanctuary cities, which means that their law enforcement departments have been shackled and prevented from policing the streets or enforcing the laws. Law enforcement under leftist city and municipal governments no longer exist “to protect and serve.” Rather they exist to promote leftist ideologies of hatred, disunity, and decay.

San Francisco’s new District Attorney is the son of radical far left Weather Underground members, the group that bombed and killed its way across the US in the 1960s and 1970s.

Bottom Line

The story of Karlyn Borysenko is a hopeful tale of an ordinary person pushing back against all the hatred. By all means, hope for the best. At the same time, prepare for the worst. The leftists have burrowed down into the deep state, and will not leave willingly. And it is the very worst, that these leftists have in mind to bring about.

You should fix this part because it sounds like people who OPPOSE the left create decline when they take over. But what you really mean is that whenever the hateful people of the left take over, decline follows.
