Coronavirus Lockdowns are Delaying Herd Immunity II

Lockdowns Retard Development of Immunity

Vaccine development may take years. But those who are infected with the virus are unlikely to get it again, within the next year or two.

[Lockdowns mean that] no population immunity can be built while they are in effect. Furthermore, attempts at ‘flattening the curve’ with strong social distancing measures did not actually flatten the curve, they merely shifted the curve to a later time period. And, when that later time period occurred during the fall and winter months, the peak increased, resulting in MORE deaths than a ‘do nothing from the beginning’ alternative. __ Stop the Lockdowns

We are learning that the actual infection fatality rate from this virus is between 0.1% and 0.4% — with evidence pointing to an average IFR of 0.2%. This puts the mortality from Wuhan CoV-19 infection on a par with that of a bad seasonal flu. The flu is not a “nothing-burger,” the flu is a serious disease. So is Wuhan CoV-19 a serious disease. But there are better ways of dealing with it than by killing the economy by gestapo-style lockdowns.

Why Are We Doing This Thing to Ourselves?

Lockdowns are not helping, and they are hurting western economies in vicious fashion. Meanwhile, Sweden is doing better than most European countries without lockdowns, and the US states that have avoided total lockdowns are doing better than the locked down states.

… the social-distancing states experienced substantially fewer cases and deaths than the lockdown states, even with New York out of the mix.

… As of 17 April, Sweden’s Covid-19 statistics were: 13,216 total cases, 1,400 total deaths, 1,309 cases per million and 139 deaths per million. In terms of cases per million residents, Sweden ranks slightly ahead of its close neighbours, Denmark (1,221) and Norway (1,274). But in Europe as a whole, Sweden ranks 23rd in terms of cases per million and 10th in terms of deaths per million. __ https://www.spiked-online.com/2020/04/22/there-is-no-empirical-evidence-for-these-lockdowns/

Faulty models drive panic. Panic promotes helplessness, bad policy, and poverty. News media and authoritarian politicians seem to want to put everyone at the total mercy of governments. But we will not let them, will we?

Meanwhile, the shutdown of many routine medical services because of police-enforced lockdowns is risking the lives of hundreds of thousands of ordinary people. The panic-related government-caused postponement of elective surgeries and dozens of other types of life-saving medical procedures, is threatening to bankrupt dozens of hospitals in the US and risks the lives of many times more people than are at risk from Chinese coronavirus.

UPMC has been hearing from patients who delayed surgeries related to things such as heart conditions or cancer, and is “not comfortable with the disruption in care this has caused for people who don’t have COVID-19,” he said.

UPMC plans to resume some of the elective surgeries that were canceled as the result of government directives to conserve beds and supplies for COVID-19 patients.

“The very high surge we prepared for simply hasn’t happened,” said Dr. Donald Yealy, UPMC’s chair of emergency medicine.

… Of 5,500 beds in the UPMC hospital system, only 2% are occupied by COVID-19 patients, as are 8% percent of intensive care beds, according to Yealy, who also said UPMC has strong supplies of protective equipment such as masks, shields and gowns.

The 118 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 at UPMC hospitals are “not a significant increase from last week,” he said.

Yealy further said the rate of positive coronavirus tests done through UPMC hospitals has dropped to 6.6 percent, down from 12 percent earlier in the pandemic __ Source

Important:

Social distancing is not the same thing as lockdowns. Rational social distancing would involve special protection of the elderly and those otherwise at high risk for serious consequences from infection with Wuhan CoV-19. Rational social distancing means no handshaking, maintaining a minimum interpersonal distance in public. Wearing masks and gloves, disinfecting surfaces, frequent handwashing, not touching the face, etc. Businesses and workplaces should open, being sure to incorporate rational social distancing.

While many state governors across the United States dawdle and hesitate about lifting their panic-induced lock downs on their states out of fear it might cause a few more Wuhan virus deaths, the real devastation from their panic is propagating uncontrolled across the landscape, and will in the end kill far far more people.

Their actions have caused the entire economy to collapse, destroyed entire industrial sectors, prevented untold numbers from getting the proper healthcare when needed, and put millions of people out of work. In the end, this government-imposed depression will do far more harm that the Wuhan flu ever could, and do it for a much longer time spell. __ Behind the Black

Informative video with updated information on new treatment options for the Chinese virus:

US Democratic Party politicians and media hacks have been driving the panic-caused lockdown policies in the US, in hopes of using the resulting hardship and misery to unseat Donald Trump in the November elections. But is their plan working?

… Democrats have allowed themselves to be [completely] out-maneuvered by President Trump in the coronavirus and economic crises. They are all calling for an indefinite protraction of the economic hemorrhage, with unemployment increasing by hundreds of thousands every day, even as the incidence of the virus declines.

… At first, Trump was a bit blasé about “the flu.” Then, as he noted the potential scope of the problem and stopped direct flights from China on January 31, he was accused of “racism” and “xenophobia” by those pendants of the Democratic weltanschauung, likely presidential nominee Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The Democrats — in a year when they can’t do anything right except sandbag Bernie Sanders, when they defended the infamous Chinese performance for a long time, and upheld the corrupt leadership of the World Health Organization — are still calling for Americans to hide like moles, whatever the financial hardship and the danger of starvation, severe economic loss, and public demoralization. __ Source

Shakeups and Instability Inside China

Remember: Gestapo lockdowns are not the same thing as rational social distancing.

And Remember:

  • go to work
  • stay away from crowds
  • maintain a 2 meter distance
  • wash your hands
  • wear a mask in public
  • don’t touch your face
  • don’t shake hands
  • keep public surfaces clean/disinfected
  • wear cotton gloves in public

In the grocery store:

  • Go shopping at a time that’s less busy. If you type in the store’s name and location in Google search, a box often will pop up showing when foot traffic there is highest.
  • Take germicide with you. Use it to wipe your hands and the cart before and after you shop.
  • Use a credit or debit card. That way, you don’t have to hand over bills or receive change. Also, use your own pen to sign receipts. If you can, use a virtual payment system like Apple Pay so that you don’t have to open your wallet at all.

An unhealthy dependency on government and news media has resulted in a dumbed-down public that seems willing to lay down for any type of outrageous gestapo-like policy and fake news lies. Try to get out more and inform yourself. Everything you think you know, just ain’t so.
