Take Comfort in Your Lockdowns, for What it is Worth

Who Is Protected by Lockdowns?

In the long run, almost no one it seems.

It has become clear that a hard lockdown does not protect old and frail people living in care homes—a population the lockdown was designed to protect. Neither does it decrease mortality from COVID-19, which is evident when comparing the UK’s experience with that of other European countries.

Everyone will be exposed to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, and most people will become infected. COVID-19 is spreading like wildfire in all countries, but we do not see it—it almost always spreads from younger people with no or weak symptoms to other people who will also have mild symptoms. This is the real pandemic, but it goes on beneath the surface, and is probably at its peak now in many European countries. There is very little we can do to prevent this spread: a lockdown might delay severe cases for a while, but once restrictions are eased, cases will reappear. I expect that when we count the number of deaths from COVID-19 in each country in 1 year from now, the figures will be similar, regardless of measures taken.

Measures to flatten the curve might have an effect, but a lockdown only pushes the severe cases into the future —it will not prevent them. __ https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31035-7/fulltext

But lockdowns will devastate economies, and raise the risks of deaths from other causes. The public is beginning to murmur its discontent, and more “affirmative action” is inevitable before much longer. Even Germany’s “lockdown lite” is coming under some severe criticism from German media:

Europe’s best-selling newspaper announced this weekend the lockdown in response to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic was a “huge mistake,” citing a number of public intellectuals critical of the country’s official response.

… In presenting the opinions of highly esteemed “lateral thinkers,” the newspaper notes Germany’s political leaders, on the contrary, “pushed the recommendations of other luminaries to justify the lockdown of the economy and public life, as well as the severe interference with everyone’s freedoms,” while ignoring contrary voices.

Prof. Klaus Püschel, for instance, a respected pathologist and head of the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Hamburg University Hospital, argues that “in the end, COVID-19 is a viral disease like the flu, which in most cases is harmless and is only fatal in exceptional cases.

“It is important to look at the aftermath of the epidemic to see if COVID-19 really was the cause of death,” Püschel observes. “Of the approximately 180 deceased with coronavirus that we have now examined, all suffered from severe pre-existing conditions and were not children or adolescents. The COVID-19 infection was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

More testing will probably not help much. Contact tracing might have been a good idea a few months ago, but the virus has been running loose across Europe and the Anglosphere for too long now. As people come to grips with the reality that they will have to come to grips with the virus, the landscape will soon become ground zero for trial lawyers and other scam-artists.

The SARS CoV-2 is a recombinant virus that almost certainly got its final boost of lethality in a Chinese lab. The release of the virus into the world’s populations was initially accidental, but turned into something else once the reality dawned on the CCP’s decision makers.

The rest of the world is trying to survive the combination of massive media hype and an associated political panic that is making the crisis a hundred-fold worse.

So why is the mainstream media doing this?

Could it be possible that they are trying to hurt President Trump politically? Without a doubt, Trump’s poll numbers have suffered during the lockdowns, and if the U.S. economy does not bounce back by November it is certainly going to be tough for him to win.

And at this point the mainstream media is not even trying to hide how much they hate Trump. For many of them, getting rid of Trump is priority number one, and they will exploit any angle that they can to try to make that happen.

But political considerations should not be governing how we approach this crisis.

Sadly, most Americans don’t even realize that if we would have just used basic common sense that we would have never needed lockdowns in the first place. __ http://themostimportantnews.com/archives/why-does-the-mainstream-media-seem-so-desperate-to-keep-the-coronavirus-lockdowns-going

Why is CO2 still rising after the world has shut down? Hint: There are multiple sources of atmospheric CO2, some of them apparently more important than human industrial and automobile emissions. There is an important truth here, for those capable of seeing past the orthodox hysteria.

China is a reckless and irresponsible country

  1. Sadly, the only thing that has changed in my life in the last few months is that I wear a mask in public {just got a fancy black one from Etsy}. I still go to work everyday and draw a paycheck. Am I an outlier?

Well, the Florida governor is doing a pretty good job of protecting the seniors while opening the state which, to be fair, was never very closed.
